Minotti Softcase modular sofa system
The Minotti Softcase, designed by Hannes Peer and introduced as part of the 2026 Collection, is conceived as an architectural system built to define the living space rather than simply furnish it. At its core is a shaped shell that outlines the back, distinguished by a central vertical seam that establishes the piece’s signature formal identity. One-piece seats combine with square-lined proportions rooted in Minotti’s design heritage, while backrests structured by an original horizontal graphic detail in soft silicone introduce a tactile counterpoint that deepens the overall sense of comfort.
Description
Design Concept
Peer’s starting point was a reimagining of the square-lined sofa through a clear formal language that echoes the defining traits of Minotti’s modernist lineage while introducing a more pronounced and tangible plushness. Volumes expand and ease, turning rigour into a cosier, more immersive living experience. Minotti describes it as an open, evolving project that establishes itself as a focal presence at the centre of the room, equally at home in contemporary and more classical contexts.
Shell, Backrests & Stitching
The shaped shell, upholstered in leather or fabric and finished with double perimeter stitching, forms a compact volume that naturally houses the backrest. The backrests are anchored to the seat yet designed to evoke the softness of cushions, distinguished internally by a horizontal graphic detail formed in soft silicone. The side profile of the shell presents a trapezoidal geometry that is clearly traced along its outer edge, becoming an expressive rhythmic feature across the full composition. Armrests, like the backrests, appear to rest lightly on the piece while being seamlessly integrated throughout.
Base & Construction
Softcase sits on a slim perimeter frame in polished brushed extruded aluminium that traces the outline of the upholstery precisely. The frame’s slender profile ensures the seated volumes command the room without the base adding visual weight. One-piece seat construction is used throughout the range, offering a broad and versatile set of modules suitable for both conventional layouts and more unusual compositional approaches.

– Clients who value Hannes Peer’s ability to find warmth within strict architectural proportion
Softcase sits at the intersection of Minotti’s design heritage and Peer’s instinct for plush restraint: a sofa that reads as rigorous at a distance and gives completely on contact.
