Description

Kasumi was created as an object that evokes nature and open space. The name describes the atmospheric moment at dawn when a glow filters through fog and mist, and the armchair carries that sense of lightness through a wooden structure and a clean, pure silhouette. Mist-o built it from very few elements, giving the piece a measured character that still reads as distinctive.

Design Inspiration & Philosophy

Mist-o is an Italian and Japanese studio, and Kasumi sits exactly on that seam. The Japanese side shows in the restraint and in the willingness to leave the structure visible. The Italian side shows in how the wood is handled and how comfortable the finished seat turns out to be. Living Divani’s talent scouting has always leaned toward designers who work this way, adding new voices without disturbing the house language.

Structure

To bring out the beauty of the wood without losing the delicacy of the form, the two sides are joined by a steel structure integrated into the wooden legs. Mist-o describe this as the detail that sharpens the overall appearance, and it is the reason the frame can stay so slender. Nothing braces the chair visibly, so the profile remains a small number of clean lines.

Comfort and Covering

Upholstery is offered in fabric or leather, which lets the chair follow the material direction of a room rather than setting one. The seat is soft without deepening the volume, so the armchair keeps its light footprint even in a small space. In the outdoor version of the collection the backrest is woven in synthetic rope across five shades, adding a tactile pattern the indoor model deliberately leaves out.
