Bocci is a contemporary design and manufacturing house located in Vancouver, Canada. Their eclectic collection can be found in the finest showrooms around the world, has grown to include custom chandeliers, furniture and cutting edge electrical components.
57 SERIES
57 PROCESS
Multiple blown-glass spheres converge to create the abstracted cloud-like form of 57. Pockets of air trapped inside a first layer of clear glass become encased in a thick second layer of semitransparent glass. This structure of built-up glass and air—repeatedly heated and reworked—gives 57 its mysterious aura: When off, the light appears as a solid mass. When lit, a complex internal universe comes alive.
57 captures Bocci’s commitment to an exploratory, maker-led process. The glassblower decides where to place each sphere, and when and how to manipulate the form using heat. The maker’s mood and vision that day determines the pendant’s final shape. No two 57 are exactly alike.
The series takes on further character according to the suspension system and whether grey or opaline glass is selected. Certain arrangements of 57 feel like a bank of roly-poly clouds, others like a network of mushrooms, and some like swarms of otherworldly creatures.
57 TABLE LIGHT
57 series pendants can pair with the table light hardware, which includes an integral dimming system housed within a sleek brass cylinder. The black fabric cord is semi-rigid and may be sculpted to add form. The brass stand has a small notch on the underside, allowing it to be hung on a wall.
57 WALL CEILING
Mounted on a white powder-coated or brass-finish base, individual pendants can directly attach to either the ceiling or the wall.
57 RANDOM AND SCULPTURAL CABLE
The random arrangement uses coaxial cables to suspend the pendants in ambient groupings.
The sculptural cable is a flexible suspension system that enables pendants to nestle in close-knit groups or to spread out in a wider field, allowing each piece to be perceived individually.
57 CLUSTER

57 STEM COLUMN
The column stem system comes in a brass or black powder-coated finish, two configurations, and multiple height options. The spring-loaded spike system allows for both vertical and angled installation. The semi-rigid black fabric cord includes an integral 360-degree dimming system housed within a sleek brass cylinder.
57 STEM SUSPENDED
The suspended stem system comes in a brass or black powder-coated finish and and is suspended horizontally. This system offers many options in terms of length and number of pendants.
57 STEM FLOOR AND CEILING MOUNTED
The floor stem system comes in a brass or black powder-coated finish and three configurations. The semi-rigid black fabric cord includes an integral 360-degree dimming system housed within a sleek brass cylinder.
The ceiling-mounted stem system comes in a brass or black powder-coated finish. This system offers many options in terms of length and number of pendants.
PHILOSOPHY
Bocci is a multidisciplinary design studio, research lab, and factory built around the core design principles of Omer Arbel. They explore novel production methods, allowing materials to respond according to their inherent properties, unveiling the hidden potentials within glass, metal, concrete, fire, electricity and others.
As makers, they are pushing the boundaries of design through experimentation, and research. What happens when you relinquish control? Unforeseen outcomes are at the heart of their process. Bocci embraces the beauty of unpredictability.
OMER ARBEL
Omer Arbel trained as an architect in the late 1990s, and apprenticed under renowned architects including Enric Miralles and Patkau Architects. In 2005, he established his own studio practice and co-founded Bocci, centered on engaging in dialogue with materials. These conversations manifest in designs ranging from individual objects to architectural scales.
