Maruni Wood Industry, a Japanese company that produces classic and high-quality furniture, was founded in 1928. Initially, it focused on industrial applications of craft skills, which allowed for mass production of furniture with a division of labor, rather than relying on traditional Japanese methods that relied on manual artisanal skills. The company continued to innovate and develop new techniques for drying wood and woodworking, eventually becoming the most successful manufacturer of classic furniture in Japan. In 2004, Maruni launched the “nextmaruni” project, which brought together 12 designers from around the world to create chairs inspired by the Japanese aesthetic. Maruni Wood Industry will continue to produce beautiful Japanese furniture that appeals to people all around the world.
