Gallotti&Radice Choupette
Choupette is a swivel armchair designed by Studiopepe for Gallotti&Radice, a seat built around gentle movement and easy comfort. A 180 degree swivel with return turns the chair towards a window, a conversation or a quiet pause, then brings it back to its starting position once released. Rounded, generous volumes rest above a lacquered wooden base, giving the piece a relaxed confidence that suits both a reading corner and a considered living room.
Description
Design Inspiration & Philosophy
Studiopepe treats seating as a balance of softness and structure. Choupette sets enveloping upholstered volumes against a slim, defined base, so the chair reads as grounded yet light in a room. The swivel is integral to the concept rather than a bolt on feature, inviting the sitter to shift focus across a space without standing. Tactile covers and a wide choice of base finishes give the design a warm, contemporary character that settles into many interiors.
Swivel Movement
The 180 degree swivel returns the seat to its original position each time it is released, keeping the chair ordered within a layout while adding a sense of play. Inside, a structure in wood and derivatives is padded with non deformable polyurethane foam in several densities, then layered with polyester fibre. This combination holds the seat’s shape over time and supports the body without feeling hard.
Covers and Care
Choupette is upholstered in fabric or leather from the current samples, with a removable cover offered across most fabric categories for straightforward cleaning. Removability does not apply to the L1 and L2 leather grades or to customer supplied hide, where the cover stays fixed. The same silhouette can therefore read as crisp and tailored in a textile, or full and tactile in leather.
Lacquered Base
The wooden base is finished in opaque lacquer and offered in ten named tones, each borrowing the name of a place. A RAL version in the customer’s chosen colour is available to order, with production time confirmed at that stage. Set beneath the upholstered seat, the base provides a clear, architectural counterpoint to the curved form above it.
