Design Inspiration & Philosophy
Studio MK27 drew from the geometry of the Bézier curve, the same mathematical matrix that defines the indoor counterpart, to create a system of enveloping open air volumes. The result is an unexpected compositional language where irregular, dynamic forms and sinuous profiles reshape garden and terrace landscapes. Each element stands confidently alone or combines freely with others, forming organic, flowing configurations that shift in response to the space they inhabit, cultivating a warmth and immediacy that feels deeply considered.
Backrest Structure & Cord Weave
Bézier “Cord” Outdoor features a painted tubular aluminium backrest structure wrapped longitudinally in a thick polypropylene cord weave. The Taslan polypropylene cord, produced through an air jet weaving and texturisation process, is finished at each end with an aluminium plate in a nuance matching the cord colour. The backrests attach to the padded base through a quick set and release closure system, and the vertical profile features a flat contoured aluminium bar varnished to match.
Seat Construction & Comfort
The one piece seat achieves its exceptional softness through the careful layering of high density polyurethane foams with varying thicknesses, producing uniform comfort across the entire surface. Given the organic shapes of each element, the tailoring of the stitching follows the curves with great precision. The deep seat rests off the ground on recessed stainless steel feet in a matt dark brown finish, supported on SEBS glides of the same colour, making the system ideal for both formal settings and moments of relaxation.
Cushions & Weather Performance
Lumbar cushion padding in variable density polyurethane foam is encased in water repellent polyester fibre quilting, whilst backrest cushions combine high resilience polyurethane foam with viscose fibre. All cushions carry water repellent polyester slipcovers to protect padding from moisture, with zippers and thread fully weather resistant and suited to exterior use. The upholstery is completely removable for ease of care. This product contains FSC® certified wood components.
Available Cord & Frame Finishes
Cord and backrest finish are offered in three coordinated colour options:
– Ecru cord with epoxy powder coat backrest in ecru, a warm and natural palette
