Minotti Horizonte sofa

A floating island with clean, straight lines defines the boundary of the living space. The new Horizonte modular seating system by Marcio Kogan / studio mk27 is built on a suspended base, a sleek solid line covered in leather, fabric, or both, upon which substantial padded elements are placed.

Description

In line with Marcio Kogan’s design philosophy, the Horizonte modular seating system embodies a precise architectural vision: a strict form raised seven centimetres off the ground by a recessed plinth in matte black varnished metal, creating a sense of suspension for the sofa. The upholstered elements—seats, backrests, and armrests—are positioned on this platform as large cushions with striking proportions and a distinctive character.

These modules are defined not only by their dimensions but also by their remarkable softness, which maintains a precise formal aesthetic despite their inviting sinkable effect. Innovative technology that uses pocketed springs in variable-density polyurethanes ensures comfort by allowing the seat to hold its shape and conform to the user’s form.

The base supporting the upholstered volumes is crafted from a clever combination of materials: entirely leather or fabric, or an original mix of both for a more refined and prestigious look. In the fabric version, the two strips are joined with a hidden zip, presented as an aesthetic motif that allows for the easy removal of the covering. The covering is lapped into the fully leather-covered base, displaying a sophisticated production method influenced by haute couture.

The apparently simple appearance of Horizonte conceals a sophisticated style code that can be adapted to a wide range of configurations. By combining modules, sloping elements, and those with built-in coffee tables, an uninterrupted overall narrative can be created.

Some elements feature a base under the upholstered parts that protrudes from the seat cushion to accommodate a shelf, available in various sizes and configurations. Like a punctuation mark, a top attached to the sofa base enhances the module inserted between the seats, adding a multipurpose element available in a variety of materials.

In addition to the top, interspersed between the cushions, the Horizonte family also includes coffee tables and a side table designed in perfect aesthetic continuity with the seating system. These tables feature floor support in polished bronze varnished metal and tops in dark brown stained Canaletto walnut or liquorice-colored ash. The different sizes and heights of these tables allow for playful superimpositions that enhance the overall horizontal aspect of the family.
