Design Inspiration & Philosophy
Francesco Binfaré has spent decades treating the sofa as a portrait of how people actually live, and Anywhere is his most recent answer. Rather than a fixed object, seating becomes a space to inhabit, adapting to places, habits and situations instead of asking anyone to conform to it. The project advances a line of research Edra has pursued for years on the relationship between the body and freedom of posture. Projects here arrive when they become necessary, not to fill a gap in a market.
The Smart Cushion
Backrests rotate on a pivot positioned at the ends of the bases, and guiding that movement by hand changes the depth of the seat. The Smart Cushion, integrated into the mobile structure, shapes the inclination of the backrest at will. This patented Edra technology needs no lever, no motor and no instruction. The soft cushions slide across the bases without interruption, so the sofa reconfigures through gesture alone, from upright for conversation to fully reclined for repose.
Seven Elements
Each of the seven elements rests on an irregularly shaped base with joinable sides, which means they group into a flowing composition or stand alone as independent sofas. Nothing in the arrangement is orthogonal. The bases meet along curves rather than square edges, so a large composition reads as one organic mass while remaining free to be broken apart and reordered whenever the room changes.

Production takes place at Edra’s Tuscan headquarters, where the balance between technological research and manual expertise sets the standard.
