Nothing on the surface reveals how the Smart Cushion works. Inside the pillow lies a joint system developed through years of design and technological research, the mobile antennas Francesco Binfaré engineered to carry movement. An object with no need for ostentation, where the whole mechanism stays out of sight.
The idea began one night in front of a sofa. Francesco Binfaré imagined placing intelligent movement inside a large pillow that could serve as both armrest and backrest. One element, one simple and extraordinary thought, an entirely new concept of relaxation. Softness cannot be designed, only shaped.
A full 180-degree rotation, both forwards and backwards, combined with gentle hand pressure, lets the cushion settle into various positions: low, reclined, bergère, enveloping, reading, or high. Adjusting the armrest to personal preference enhances the sofa's liveliness and upholds its promise of comfort, elegance, and performance.

Francesco Binfaré
Francesco Binfaré is an intellectual, artist and designer, he has a deep and consolidated path with Edra over the years. He was born and lives in Milan and learned drawing and painting from his father. Since 1960 he has practiced art in the industrial field, assuming above all the role of artistic director of research centers and project promotion, involving architects and designers in the creation of products destined to become historical pieces of Italian and international design. In 1992, he was called by Massimo Morozzi to design for Edra. The meeting marked the beginning of a new season, with the invention of important sofas, with extraordinary expressive and innovative strength.
