Each of us has experienced, in our lifetime, a sensation that words cannot grasp. It’s when we hold our breath lost in a whirlwind of events, and, all of a sudden, we perceive an inner calm, born from a pure connection with nature. In a park in Seoul, we found ourselves in emotional turmoil about what was happening around us, and suddenly, we remained suspended for a moment.
People of all ages, together with us, were turning their heads up to gaze at the plum blossoms, with their open corolla or with small spherical buds still closed, waiting for them to vibrate in the breeze. In the natural inspiration, the leafy branches laden with blossoms were filling the space creating their own composition, and this guided us in designing the Maehwa collection. Maehwa is the Korean word for “plum blossom”.

In the Maehwa collection each element – the brass structure, the glass spheres, and the light source, interacts effortlessly with all the others.
Between nature and abstraction, searching for a compositional balance between the elements, it is possible to play with extension and presence across space, with modular custom-made creations. Glass sphere shades are also available for customizable options

Giopato & Coombes is a design studio founded by Italian architect Cristiana Giopato and English designer Christopher Coombes, specializing in innovative lighting design. Their creations, often featuring hand-blown glass and intricate details, blend architecture, graphics, and interiors to evoke emotions and memories. Involved in every stage from concept to production, they ensure high quality and craftsmanship.
Cam Studio, founded by Carla Muñoz in 2018 after 20 years of experience in
high-end furniture and design, is the Giopato & Coombes dealer.
