Lee Broom: The Resident – New exhibition for Mexico City Art Week and beyond
Post published:
As part of Mexico City Art Week 2026, we are delighted to collaborate with Diez Company, undertaking a creative residency within their historic house in Mexico City. Titled ‘The Resident’, the exhibition took place during Art Week, but will continue to run through Spring 2026, transforming the house into a sculptural landscape of light and materiality.
Marking our debut exhibition in Mexico, we have created an experiential installation within one of Mexico City’s most architecturally distinguished showrooms, transforming the entire space into a sculptural tableau of light. ‘The Resident’ weaves together our sculptural lighting with collectible design, unfolding as a narrative that bridges the worlds of design and contemporary art. Created in close dialogue with Diez Company, the presentation brings together more
than 50 Lee Broom works.
The exhibition unfolds as a journey from room to room. At the heart of the installation sits its defining centrepiece: a monumental cascade of light suspended through the house’s soaring central atrium. The Hail Chandelier descends through the stairwell in a striking vertical composition that sets the tone for the entire exhibition, drawing visitors upward and guiding them through the surrounding spaces. Now fully customisable, Hail invites clients to compose their own variations, transforming the piece into a personal constellation of light, tailored to each architectural setting.
Along the way, we present a curated selection of Requiem pieces, including the recently launched wall sconce. Hand-sculpted in draped plaster by Lee Broom himself, these works carry a quiet, ethereal presence, introducing an intimate artistic counterpoint to the installation and offering moments of stillness and contemplation.
Among the key spaces is a reimagined tiled bathroom, finished in matte gold, where Chant chandeliers and Chant portable lamps are arranged in a precise grid that echoes the geometry of the tiles. The result is a chic, playful environment with a distinctly 1970s spirit. In contrast, the conservatory is flooded with natural daylight, with our King Chandelier positioned at its centre, refracting light through its brushed gold leaves and animating the room with movement and reflection. The exhibition also includes recent collaborations, from ‘Overture’, our collection with Calico Wallpaper inspired by trompe-l’œil drapery, to ‘Cascade’, our porcelain lighting series created for Lladró.
In celebration of Art Week and Mexico’s rich creative culture, ‘The Resident’ also features artworks by Mexican artists, curated by us in collaboration with Diez Company. The sculptural forms and material choices echo one another throughout the house, with silhouettes and compositions that subtly reference our own designs. Stone, travertine, and marble appear across the spaces, while spherical details and strong rectangular sections within the artworks naturally complement our lighting.
