Description

An extensible, rectangular dining table made of natural stone or wood that convinces by its modern strictness. Thanks to the extension mechanism the symmetry with the substructure is always maintained in the extended as well as the closed position.

Design by Georg Appeltshauser

Designed in 2006 by Georg Appeltshauser, Atlas has achieved design recognition with an IF Product Design Award in 2008 and nomination for the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2010. This acclaim reflects the table’s successful balance of modern strictness with technical innovation.

Innovative Extension Mechanism

With a new technique the extension leaf can be rotated by another 90 degrees. Thus it is now positioned lengthwise under the centre leaf and is no longer visible from the side. This engineering advancement conceals the extension mechanism completely, maintaining the table’s clean aesthetic in both positions.

Maintained Symmetry

Thanks to the extension mechanism the symmetry with the substructure is always maintained in the extended as well as the closed position. This consistent visual balance ensures Atlas appears perfectly proportioned regardless of configuration.

Three Base Options

This model is offered with three different bases, allowing customisation to suit varied spatial and aesthetic requirements whilst maintaining the table’s modern strictness.

Material Variants

Atlas is available in two primary material categories, each offering distinctive character:

– Natural stone tops including Turtle, Elegant Brown leathered, Lasa Vena Oro, Sahara Brown, and Tokyo

– Wood tops including Wild Oak, Oak Vintage copper brown, Oak Vintage silver grey, Oak dark grey, Natural Oak, Oak tobacco, and American walnut

– Base finishes including dark bronze anodised and various metal options

Modern Strictness

The rectangular form convinces by its modern strictness, creating a commanding presence in dining spaces. This design approach prioritises clean lines and geometric precision, allowing the natural beauty of stone or wood to take prominence.

Perfect For

– Dining spaces requiring extensible tables with concealed mechanisms

– Interiors appreciating modern strictness and geometric precision

– Projects valuing maintained symmetry in both extended and closed positions

– Contemporary settings where natural stone or wood tops create focal points

– Residential and hospitality environments requiring flexible dining configurations

Atlas by Georg Appeltshauser convinces by its modern strictness, where innovative extension mechanisms rotate 90 degrees to conceal leaves lengthwise whilst maintaining perfect symmetry with the substructure in both extended and closed positions.
