Fendi Casa Five seating system
Five is a seamless dialogue between architecture and design, a harmoniously balanced solution for seating and storage from Marcel Wanders. Each padded modular unit is upholstered in a choice of fabric or leather, and the marble side table with its push pull drawer in varnished wood sets up a contrast of solids and voids. With a host of configurations available, the system is designed to foster convivial living.
Description
Design Inspiration & Philosophy
Wanders treats the sofa as a small piece of architecture, alternating built volume with open space the way a facade does. The upholstered units read as mass, the marble insert and its drawer as a carved void set into that mass. This is why Five never looks like a sofa with a table pushed against it. The table belongs to the structure, planned into the composition from the start.
Marble Insert and Storage
The side table is worked in marble and fitted with a push pull drawer in varnished wood, putting closed storage inside the seating itself. In practice it absorbs the objects that clutter most living rooms and keeps them within reach of every seat. One version carries a chessboard surface, which turns the insert into a reason for people to sit down together.
Modular Configurations
The padded units combine into a wide range of layouts, from a straightforward run to an arrangement wrapped around the marble element. Because every module shares the same depth and padding, changing the composition does not disturb its proportions. Arrangements can be extended or reordered years later without the original pieces looking like leftovers.
Configuration Options
Five is specified module by module, then completed with its table element.
– padded modular units upholstered in fabric
– padded modular units upholstered in leather
– marble side table insert with push pull drawer in varnished wood
– chessboard surface version of the marble element
– multiple configurations built from a single module depth
Perfect For
– Open living areas where seating and storage share one footprint
– Households that entertain and need surfaces within reach of every seat
– Designers specifying a system that can be reconfigured after handover
– Lounges and games rooms wanting the chessboard element
– Clients drawn to Marcel Wanders authorship within the collection
Five builds the table into the sofa and lets the two argue productively. Marble against padding, void against volume, and a living room that finally has somewhere to put things.
