Minotti Amii seating system
The Amii seating system by nendo draws its name and character from the image of an enveloping net that embraces and shelters. Designed for exterior spaces, Amii features woven cord panels forming backrests and armrests in a harmonious S shaped curve, gently cradling cushions of different forms and sizes across a wide range of comfortable configurations. Low backrest, high backrest and mix versions adapt the same system to occasions ranging from convivial gatherings to intimate, sheltered relaxation.
Description
Design Inspiration & Philosophy
Nendo conceived Amii as a structure that wraps around those within it, the way a net holds without constraining. The S shaped arc of the woven cord panels defines both armrests and backrests in a continuous visual movement across the system. The low backrest configuration is particularly suited to convivial occasions, whilst the high backrest version creates a more sheltered, private atmosphere. Mixing the two heights within one arrangement produces a subtle visual rhythm and adaptable ergonomic range.
Cord Panels & Frame Construction
The stainless steel structure, varnished in polished bronze, matt ecru or matt dark brown, is clad in woven polypropylene fibre forming a 24×7 mm strip. The cord is available in ecru, bronze or dark brown to coordinate with the frame colour throughout. Each backrest panel attaches to the padded base through a quick set and release coupling system, keeping configurations clean whilst making recombination of elements straightforward.
Seat, Cushions & Optional Cushion Forms
The seat is in plywood and variable density polyurethane foam, encased in a water repellent polyester cover. Seat and backrest cushions combine high resilience polyurethane foam and viscose fibre within water repellent polyester slipcovers, with all fixings suited to exterior performance. An extensive range of optional cushion formats — cylindrical, spherical, disc shaped, standard square and roll forms in three sizes — adds comfort depth and visual variety. Covers are fully removable throughout.
Coffee Tables, Storage Ottomans & Feet
Amii extends to a matching family of coffee tables and storage ottomans that share the same woven cord frame as the seating. Coffee table tops are available in basaltina stone or backpainted tempered glass in celadon, cappuccino, rust or green. Storage ottomans come in fixed footed or castor mounted versions, the latter also available in a circular form. The seating system rests on solid teak feet with natural finish and adjustable black SEBS glides.
