Adapted from the indoor Emmi collection, the sofa pairs a slender tubular stainless steel frame clad in woven polypropylene cord with soft removable cushions. Design Inspiration & Philosophy
Hannes Peer designed Emmi for interior spaces and in adapting it for open air use he preserved the qualities that define the indoor version: generous proportions, visual lightness, and the sinuous continuous line the base draws between the seat and backrest. That particular quality, where the frame appears to flow rather than simply support, gives Emmi “Cord” Outdoor a sophisticated visual character that reads well against architectural garden and terrace backdrops.
Frame & Taslan Cord Construction
The slender tubular stainless steel frame is varnished in matt Ecru, matt Dark Brown or matt Bronze. The seat and backrest are formed from woven 8 mm Ø Taslan polypropylene cord, a material produced through an air jet weaving and texturisation process that combines durability with a refined surface quality. Each cord colour is specifically paired with its frame finish, maintaining a single, consistent colour reading across the entire piece from base to backrest.
Cushions, Covers & Weather Performance
Seat and backrest cushions combine high resilience variable density polyurethane foam with viscose fibre, enclosed in water repellent polyester covers. All accessories including zippers and thread are weather resistant and suitable for exterior use. The seat and backrest cushions are joined by a zipper and fixed to the structure using teak frogs closures, whilst the cushion cover is fully removable. The sofa rests on stainless steel tips varnished to match the frame finish.
