Baxter Chicago sofa and armchair system
The Baxter Chicago is a sofa and armchair collection designed by Paola Navone, built entirely around generously rounded forms and the sensory depth of Baxter leather. Available as a standalone armchair, as a two-seat sofa in 240 and 320 cm lengths, and as a fully modular system of end modules, corner elements, central sections and ottomans, Chicago is designed to become the centre of the living space rather than a backdrop to it. Leather and fabric versions are available throughout.
Description
Paola Navone & Design Intent
Navone conceived Chicago as a haven of contemporary relaxation, a sofa system where rounded curves work together to cradle the body in what she describes as a protective embrace. Every element in the collection follows this logic: forms that envelop rather than support, surfaces that yield rather than resist. The result is a piece that Baxter positions not merely as furniture but as a statement of style, transforming the living space into a multisensory experience.
Leather & Stitching
The leather used on Chicago is selected by Baxter for its exceptional quality and its capacity to adapt to the sofa’s sinuous shape. It breathes and evolves with use, developing a character over time that factory-finished materials cannot replicate. The stitching, which Baxter describes as presenting a subtle interplay of tensions, enhances the perception of infinite softness across the upholstered surface. Each seam reinforces the rounded geometry of the form rather than interrupting it.
Modular System
Chicago extends well beyond the standard sofa into a comprehensive modular programme. Terminal modules with left or right armrests, central modules without backrests, corner modules in both 90-degree and arc configurations, an L-shaped central module, and ottomans in three sizes all share the same visual language and upholstery specification. The collection is available in both leather and fabric across the entire module range, with a 120 x 120 cm corner module and a dormer-format arc module included.
