The Baxter Miami Soft is a large modular leather sofa designed by Paola Navone, built on the ambition of making leather extra-soft and a living room layout genuinely adaptable. Its defining feature is the roller backrest: a cylindrical cushion running the length of the seat back that can be repositioned by hand to switch the sofa from facing one direction to another. Informal, generous and entirely focused on the comfort of its occupants, Miami Soft is offered in sofas from 260 to 350 cm and a full system of complementary modules.

Paola Navone & Design Approach
Navone’s starting point for Miami Soft was scale and freedom: an outsize sofa that gives its users genuine control over how they sit and how they face. The roller backrest is the mechanism through which that freedom operates. With a simple movement, the sitter can redirect the backrest to face inward toward a conversation or outward toward the room, facilitating complete relaxation or social engagement depending on the moment. Baxter’s role was to deliver that informality in the softest leather the house produces.
The Roller Backrest
The roller backrest is Miami Soft’s most distinctive functional element. A cylindrical leather cushion, available in 108, 140 and 170 cm lengths, it sits across the back of the seat and can be moved by hand without effort. This single feature changes the character of the sofa entirely: with the roller in place, it reads as a deep, cushioned daybed; repositioned, it becomes a conventional sofa back. The roller is also available separately as an accessory for existing Miami Soft configurations.
Extra-Soft Leather
Baxter describes Miami Soft as an expression of the house’s masterful ability to make leather extra-soft. The hide used across the collection has a yielding, giving quality that suits the informal, reclined character of the design. Unlike firmer upholstery leathers that hold their shape against the body, the Miami Soft material responds to it, deepening the sense of ease that Navone built into every proportion and curve of the system.
